Deter – Detect – Delay

Keeping in mind these three principles and you can keep criminal activity away from your premises.

Deter  Change their mind before attempting any criminal activity against you.  Let them know that you are not an easy target and they will withdraw.  Few simple and inexpensive tips: security signs around your perimeter.  A dog also will discourage them.

Detect   If anyone approaches your property you need to know about it as soon as possible so you can act accordingly.  Also you want the  intruder to be exposed, in that case more than 75% will withdraw because they lose their advantage of surprise.  Examples: automatic security lights in your perimeter.  Another trick is the same sensors can activate a small buzzer in the house so you can be notified.  Recent technology in high megapixels IP cameras use smart analytics which makes them very effective and accurate for detection.

Delay  In the event when a criminal activity is in progress, you need to delay them until they reach to you.  Few ways to do this: high fences in your outer perimeter.  Strong heavy doors with heavy duty security locks.  Double glazing windows and if necessary have bars on them.  Install and use CCTV inside your premises.
